FSC is an international, non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting responsible management of the trees around the world. FSC stands for the Forest Stewardship Council, it started in 1994 and is most respected forest certification system. Its certification system covers more than 200 million hectares of forest which lets businesses and consumers choose wood, paper and other forest products made with materials that support responsible forestry.
FSC packaging is the most common use of the logo nowadays around the world, from food packaging to products. FSC owns five registered trademarks: the name "Forest Stewardship Council", the abbreviation "FSC", the FSC'tick-tree' logo and the full and text-only 'Forests For All Forever' brandmarks. The FSC trademarks can be used by FSC certificate holders and FSC promotional licence holders. They can also be used for educational and research purposes and by the media.
