Is broken glass recyclable or can we throw it away in the bin? You might think they are recyclable since glass jars and containers are recyclable, but in this case you're wrong. Broken glass cannot be recycled, since there are many different kinds of glass out there. For example, window glass and lightbulbs contain chemicals that make them unsuitable for reusing. 

Items such as wine and drinking glasses contain not only different chemical compositions but have different melting points to other items.  Most recycling plants only take in nonbroken glasses and have most of them repurposed but broken is not the case, it goes to the landfills.

To conclude, what we suggest doing to broken glass is wrapping them in paper or newspaper and sealing them tight in a plastic bag when you send your garbage out. To prevent the broken pieces from falling out.
